Roberto De Zerbi’s Next Move: Man United Dream and Chelsea Speculation

Roberto De Zerbi is eagerly anticipating his next career move, according to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Following two highly successful seasons at Brighton, De Zerbi parted ways with the club last week. Since then, he’s been linked with top managerial roles at Manchester United, Chelsea, AC Milan, and Napoli.

De Zerbi made it clear that he doesn’t have any immediate commitments with a major club as he bid farewell to Brighton after their final match against Manchester United at the Amex Stadium. His farewell statement was aimed at quelling rumors, emphasizing that he is still considering his next steps carefully.

Brighton is currently on the hunt for De Zerbi’s successor, while Chelsea is also in the market for a new manager after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino. Ipswich Town manager and former Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna is reportedly a top candidate for both Brighton and Chelsea. Despite these moves, De Zerbi’s name remains prominent in discussions about the next Chelsea manager, though recent reports indicate Chelsea has made a fresh approach for McKenna.

Manchester United, who reached the FA Cup final, might also be considering De Zerbi or McKenna as they evaluate the future of Erik ten Hag, who might leave Old Trafford this summer.

Romano, speaking to Caught Offside, noted that Chelsea has not initiated talks with De Zerbi. While his name frequently appears in media speculation, the reality is that discussions are quiet at the moment. De Zerbi has expressed a desire to continue working in the Premier League, not necessarily tied to a specific club but driven by the ambition to stay in the English top flight. However, he remains open to opportunities in other countries if a suitable project arises.

As De Zerbi weighs his options, it is clear that his successful stint at Brighton has positioned him as a sought-after manager, with clubs across Europe keen to harness his tactical expertise and leadership.
